A Partnership Built Over More Than 5 Years

Although Thistle Paws is a new rescue, our team has been working with Suceava Shelter for over five years through previous rescue work. This long-standing relationship means we know the team well, trust their work completely, and understand the challenges they face every single day.

About Suceava

Located in rural Romania, Suceava Shelter can hold up to 300 dogs. If this number is exceeded, the council mandates euthanasia. This devastating rule forces the small volunteer team - led by Monica and Adina - to work tirelessly to keep numbers safe and to save as many dogs as possible.

Where the Dogs Come From

Suceava takes in dogs who have nowhere else to go, including: street dogs, dogs from public kill shelters & dogs abandoned at the shelter gates.
Every day brings new dogs, often frightened, injured, or neglected. Despite limited resources, the volunteers never stop fighting for them.

Transport runs 1–2 times per month, giving dogs the chance to leave overcrowded conditions and start a new chapter in a loving home.
